some tips written by me that might help you get along your way.
1. FIRST STEP: PICK A NAME
It's true. You can't start anything really without picking a site name. Do yourself a favor and pick something ORIGINAL! No "bunny, happy, fluffy, sugary, happy, star, mix, yum, pow" stuff because it's not original anymore. Pick something classy without overdoing anything like ,"boba bandaid" etc. (p.s., i know my site name (Polka Dots) totally isn't original, but i was only 11, and it's stuck)

2. SECOND STEP: KNOW YOUR HTML.
If you don't you're practically screwed 'cause without basic HTML you can't be successful. Know CSS also, because CSS is very important. Iframes are really easy to learn.

3. THIRD STEP: MAKE A GREAT LAYOUT!
Doesn't matter if you're shooting for the "VINTAGE" or the "CUTESY" look, but if you have a GREAT layout, everybody will like it, even if it's not their style. Do not clutter things, keep colors pleasing to the eyes, and not too many rollovers! And if you can't do anything special yet, just keep your layout non cluttered, short and sweet and nice CSS.

4. FOURTH STEP: CSS
Don't have css like this because it's annoying and don't overdo it please. Have easy-to-read fonts, and don't try not to use the "in" font or the "in" colors that everyone else is using. Remember to keep font colors in contrast to your iframe or bg color, so we can read your text!. (but don't over do it, ex: yellow text on blk bg.) And don't over-do the CSS with dots underneath the links and cross outs!) >> my personal opinion.

5. FIFTH STEP: THE CONTENT
The content is what actually keeps the visitors from keeping on visiting your website. To me, it's actually to sole purpose of your site. As we all know, there are mainly just three categories for the average website: ME (that's about you), YOU (for the visitor) and SITE (otherwise known as WWW) Have minimal content of at least 5 .htms I'd say, or it's a waste of your time. Have LOTS of USEFUL content! and try to UPDATE regularly! (i know i'm no pro in that category :B )

6. SIXTH STEP: ORGANIZATION
 Have things organized so that your visitor can navigate and whatnot easily. Try not to have X's or broken links. Keep your navigation easy-to-find to make things easier on the visitor.

7. SEVENTH STEP: GETTING HOSTED
Geocities or freewebs may suit you fine. If you want a host though, you've got to clean up your site. Get a respectable and friendly host, and you should be somewhat friends with him/her before you ask them to host you! And know this : getting hosted does not necessarily mean more hits to your website.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!  DON'T STEAL IDEAS, DON'T COPY IDEAS!! To have a successful website and "make it yours" USE YOUR OWN BRAIN! Good Luck :)
