REST IN PEACE {RIP} FLOPPY
In July 2000, my sisters and I wanted a pet. A puppy. A cat. A bunny. Anything.
When my parents' actually considered allowing us to get a rabbit, my sisters and
I were thrilled! We visited a Pet Shop near our church. They had so many cute
animals! There was a handful of rabbits. I remember there were two cages that we
noticed particularly. One of them had two white female rabbits, and the other
one had a small, male, fluffly, floppy-eared black bunny. My sisters and I
wanted one of the white ones, but Ann wanted the black one, Floppy. After
deciding we finally chose Floppy, and I am so glad that we did.
My cousin chose the name Floppy, because he had "floppy ears" :D He's the only one that did. None of his children/grandchildren inherited his lop-ears. :)
I remember taking him out on our lawn and he'd sortof followed me when I clapped
my hands and called him. I remember when he liked to hide in the bushes in our
backyard and we'd have to crawl in there to get him out. I remember being upset
from my parents or something and I took Floppy out of his cage and I'd just sit
with him in the corner of my backyard, holding him and petting him. I remember
when we had baby bunnies and we let them "kiss" their grandpa Floppy. I remember
how he would run up to the front of his cage whenever you walked by.

Floppy in the Summer. His fur turned brown!

In December 2007, Floppy breathed his last breath and lay down in his cage for the last time. He was seven and a half years old, pretty old for a rabbit. He was my first bunny and my first real pet (with the exception of goldfish). Since I'm away at college I sometimes forget he's not alive anymore. But I know that every time that I walk by his empty cage, I'll always remember the memories I had holding him and playing with him.
"Wish that I had done just a little more.
Wish that I could see you one more time.
But I know that God holds your life,
Your battle is finally done.
And He said Well Done."
