TIP #1: Think like a designer, until you become a designer

Do not copy! What you should do is to think like a designer. Designers take bits and pieces of art, nature, just about anything. Then they combine their ideas to create a original one-of-a-kind masterpiece! For example, say you go to the mall and see this gorgeous purse with green, orange, and yellow squares. When you come home you notice your old stuffed teddy bear sitting on your bedroom shelf. You can combine the green, orange, and yellow squares with a cg of your teddy bear and create something totally original, without copying any scans, layouts, etc. If you use this technique you will start developing your own style :)
